Cloudflare Research has unveiled Meerkat, an experimental global consensus service built on a novel algorithm called QuePaxa. The project aims to deliver a strongly consistent, fault-tolerant key-value store that can operate reliably across geographically distributed nodes. Separately, AWS has expanded availability of its EC2 High Memory U7i instances — specifically the u7i-12tb.224xlarge configuration with 12 tebibytes of DDR5 memory — to the Europe (Zurich) region. These instances run on fourth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the Sapphire Rapids family and are designed for memory-intensive enterprise workloads.
