FAQ
Find answers to the most common questions about our services and solutions.
What services does HashWhales provide?
Three things: managed IT support and networking (Wi-Fi, devices, Microsoft 365, backups), cybersecurity (audits, hardening, monitoring, compliance readiness), and websites or business software. Most clients start with one and add the others as they grow.
Who is HashWhales for?
Small and midsize businesses in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, and the wider DC area that need reliable IT and security but can't justify hiring a full in-house department — medical and dental offices, law firms, restaurants, and other local businesses.
Is HashWhales a big agency or a small team?
HashWhales is a founder-led team of engineers covering development, cybersecurity, and networking, based in Arlington. When you call, you talk directly to the people who do the work — no account managers, no offshore handoffs.
How secure are your solutions?
We apply encryption, access control, and monitoring as standard practice, and we're upfront about what a formal certification (like SOC 2) still requires from your organization beyond our work. We don't promise guarantees no security provider can actually make.
Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes — that's most of what we do. Ongoing IT support and network monitoring, cybersecurity monitoring and patching, and website hosting, maintenance, and updates are all available as monthly plans.
How much does a new business website cost?
A flat $500 to design and launch a new business website, provided it's hosted on HashWhales infrastructure. After that, ongoing hosting, maintenance, and growth plans start at $50/month. See /pricing for the full breakdown.
How much does IT support or cybersecurity cost?
It depends on your setup and needs — number of devices, current infrastructure, and what you're trying to protect. We start with a free Technology Risk Review, then quote a clear monthly plan with no hidden fees.
How long does it take to complete a project?
A new business website is typically ready to launch within a few weeks of your first call, with a first design preview in 24 hours. IT support and cybersecurity engagements start with a review, usually scheduled within one business day.
What technologies do you use?
Websites and software are built primarily on Next.js, with AWS or GCP for cloud infrastructure when a project needs it. For IT support, that means standard business tools — Microsoft 365, common network and backup platforms — chosen for what fits your setup, not a fixed stack.
Do you help with cybersecurity or HIPAA/SOC 2 compliance readiness?
Yes. We run security audits, harden systems, and prepare evidence and controls ahead of a SOC 2 or HIPAA audit. We have direct experience in HIPAA-regulated healthcare IT environments. We're not a certification body — we get your organization ready for one.
How do we get started?
Fill out the contact form or request a free Technology Risk Review. We'll review your current setup, get on a call, and send a clear, written plan with pricing — no obligation.
