Amazon Web Services has extended availability of its R8in, R8ib, R8idn, and R8idb EC2 instance families to the Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt), and Europe (Ireland) regions. The instances run on custom sixth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors exclusive to AWS and incorporate the latest generation of AWS Nitro cards, delivering compute performance improvements of up to 43% over prior generations. Separately, Cloudflare announced enhancements to its Smart Tiered Cache product, enabling more precise upper-tier selection for workloads hosted on AWS, GCP, Azure, and Oracle Cloud when customers supply cloud region hints.
