Amazon ECS Service Connect now routes service-to-service traffic within the same Availability Zone by default, reducing the cross-AZ hops that silently inflate data transfer costs and add latency. When a same-AZ endpoint is unavailable, the system falls back to other zones automatically, preserving reliability. Separately, Cloudflare launched Cache Response Rules, a configuration layer that intercepts and overrides origin response headers — such as Set-Cookie or Cache-Control directives — before the caching decision is made. This allows teams to correct caching behavior at the edge without modifying the origin application.
